Referral scheme.
Being a recruiter is hard.
Life is hard (and expensive).
And finding good people is really bloody hard.
So let's make each other's lives a bit easier.
You introduce me to someone good. I place them in a job. You get 10% of my placement fee.
Simple.
And we're not talking about a £50 Amazon voucher and a pat on the back.
If I earn a £10,000 placement fee, you get £1,000.
If I earn £20,000, you get £2,000.
Not bad for knowing someone, is it?
There's no limit to how many people you can refer either. If you know five brilliant people and I place all five, you'll get paid for all five.
You don't have to be a recruiter, work in the industry or even understand what the person you're referring actually does.
You just need to know someone who might benefit from a conversation with me.
They don't even need to be actively looking for a job.
In fact, some of the best people aren't.
And don't worry, I won't tell them you've referred them without your permission. Nobody wants to be responsible for their mate getting an unexpected call from a recruiter
halfway through their Monday morning meeting.
The boring bit (Terms & Conditions)
Unfortunately, the world has lawyers, accountants and people who enjoy writing terms and conditions.
So here are a few sensible rules to make sure we're both protected.
1. How much do you get?
You'll receive 10% of the recruitment placement fee I actually receive for successfully placing your referral, excluding VAT.
For example, if I receive a £15,000 recruitment fee, you'll receive £1,500.
No points, vouchers or complicated reward schemes. Actual money.
2. When do you get paid?
Once your referral has started their new job, completed the client's rebate period (usually three months), and I've received the placement fee in full, your referral payment becomes due.
I'll pay you within 14 days of those conditions being met and receiving any necessary payment details or paperwork.
The rebate period can vary depending on the client. I'll confirm the applicable period when your referral is accepted.
3. What if they leave their new job?
Sometimes things don't work out. People leave jobs, companies change their minds, and occasionally someone discovers their new boss is a complete nightmare.
If your referral leaves during the rebate period and the placement fee is refunded or cancelled, unfortunately, there won't be a referral payment.
If the client receives only a partial rebate, your reward will be calculated on the net placement fee I ultimately retain.
4. What if I already know them?
If I'm already representing the person, have an active relationship with them, or they've already been referred to me, the introduction won't qualify.
Otherwise, we'd potentially be paying several people for introducing the same person.
Which sounds lovely, but it's not a particularly sustainable business model.
I'll confirm whether your referral qualifies when you make the introduction, so there are no nasty surprises later.
5. What if someone else refers them too?
The first eligible referral I receive and confirm in writing gets the reward.
Simple as that.
6. How long does the referral last?
Your referral will remain eligible for 12 months from the date I confirm its acceptance.
If I place them within that period, you'll receive your reward once the payment conditions have been met.
If they don't get placed within 12 months, the referral expires.
7. Can you refer anyone?
Almost.
You can refer friends, former colleagues, people in your network or anyone else you think might benefit from speaking with me.
However, you must have their permission before sharing their personal details.
Please don't send me somebody's private mobile number or CV without asking them first.
You also need to be legally permitted to receive a referral payment. This scheme isn't available where accepting a payment would breach your employment obligations, professional duties, a conflict-of-interest policy or applicable law.
8. What about tax?
Any tax due on your referral payment is your responsibility.
If you're referring people through your business, we may need an invoice. If you're referring someone personally, we'll agree on the appropriate payment arrangements.
I can find people jobs. I can't do your tax return.
9. What if the company doesn't pay?
Your reward is based on the placement fee I actually receive and retain.
If the client doesn't pay the recruitment fee, there's unfortunately no referral payment to make.
If they pay part of the fee, your reward will be calculated on the amount received and retained.
10. Can I change the scheme?
I may update or withdraw the scheme in future.
However, any referrals I've already accepted will remain subject to the terms agreed when they were accepted.
I won't change the rules halfway through and suddenly decide your £2,000 reward is worth a £20 Deliveroo voucher.
That would be a bit rubbish.
Ready to make some money?
Think about the people you've worked with.
The brilliant ones. The underpaid ones. The ones who deserve better.
The ones who keep telling you they're going to leave their job but never quite get around to it.
There's a good chance I could help them.
And if I do, you'll get paid for making the introduction.
Send me their details (with their permission), introduce us on LinkedIn, or drop me an email using the button below.
Let's make each other's lives easier.
