Management Accountant

Working in football sounds exciting. Working in finance there means you actually get to understand the business behind what happens on the pitch.

You’ll take proper ownership of month end and management accounts, but without inheriting a financial crime scene.

The reporting templates are established, the working files are well reconciled and the processes are already there. So you can concentrate on doing a good job and developing your commercial understanding.

And this isn’t ordinary management accounting.

Every fixture creates its own financial activity. Hospitality, food and drink, programmes, travel, visiting clubs, income, costs and settlements. You’ll get close enough to the operation to understand how what happens on matchday eventually becomes a set of numbers.

You don't need to be a football expert. You just need to be interested enough to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll own the monthly close and prepare management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.

You’ll investigate variances, maintain supporting schedules and produce clear management information.

You’ll also account for home and away fixtures and gradually get involved with budgeting, forecasting and wider analysis.

What You’ll Need:

You’ll need solid hands-on month-end experience and either prepare management accounts already or contribute significantly towards them.

You could be an Assistant Management Accountant ready for more ownership, come from practice or audit, or already be doing something similar in industry.

ACA, ACCA or CIMA is useful, but not essential.
