BILLING MANAGER - AI - LONDON/HYBRID/REMOTE - £40,000 - £60,000
This is a two-year-old recruitment business focused on AI, data, product and technology hiring. They work with a mix of consultancies, scale-ups and startups across the UK, with occasional projects across the US, UAE and Europe too.
The foundations are already there. Great clients. Existing delivery support. Contract revenue already operating. Founders with strong backgrounds in recruitment and growth businesses (the kind of people you really want to be around as a professional recruiter).
Now they need someone to properly own and scale the permanent side.
Not somebody to sit under layers of management approval. Somebody trusted and empowered to help build the thing.
You’d be joining at the stage where your ideas still shape process, culture, hiring decisions and future direction. That’s why this role matters. In a business planning to grow from a small specialist team into 10–15 people over the next year, the early hires benefit most.
You’ll have flexibility too. Two office days a week in London is the norm, but nobody’s pretending presenteeism equals performance. It’s an adult environment where people are trusted to manage themselves properly.
Unlimited holiday. Flexibility around family life. Direct access to founders. Involvement in strategy discussions. Potential equity or profit-share conversations for the right person.
And importantly, they understand what experienced recruiters actually want:
Less nonsense.
Less ego.
More autonomy.
More upside.
You won’t be dragged into endless admin either. The operational side is heavily supported already, with outsourced payroll and systems in place including Loxo, Apollo and established delivery support around the desk.
What you’ll be doing
• Building and growing a permanent recruitment desk focused around AI, data, product or technology markets.
• Winning and developing client relationships with consultancies, startups and scaling businesses.
• Managing the full recruitment lifecycle from BD through to placement and account growth.
• Helping shape future hiring plans, process improvements and desk strategy.
• Potentially mentoring or managing additional hires as the team expands.
• Acting as a senior voice within a collaborative, growing business.
What you’ll need
• Strong permanent recruitment experience with consistent billing history.
• Proven business development ability - this is not a delivery-only role.
• Ideally a track record of £200k+ annual billings or equivalent high performance.
• Stability in your background. They value people who build things, not serial job-hoppers.
• Collaborative personality and low-ego mindset.
• Experience within technology, AI, data, product or adjacent specialist markets helps massively.
What you’ll get
• Flexible hybrid working (typically Tuesdays and Thursdays in the London office)
• Unlimited holiday
• £40,000 - £60,000 base depending on your experience, with a strong commission structure that pays up to 40%
• Potential equity/profit share opportunities
• Direct involvement in business strategy and growth
No need for a perfectly polished CV. An older version or even your LinkedIn profile is absolutely fine to start with - just make sure you know your billing figures and numbers.
If you want to find out more before applying properly, that’s fine too. Most good recruiters do.
